About

"Bowling Around Beautiful..." is a travel blog devoted to two separate but related topics.

"Bowling around" is a phrase - albeit one not used for a few decades! - that means that one is traveling in a vehicle of some kind, in a jaunty and carefree manner.

I am an avid bowler (or ten-pin bowler, for my European readers!). My goal is to travel around the beautiful United States and Canada and bowl in every bowling center in every city.

"That's a lot of bowling centers," you may be saying. Sadly, there are not nearly as many bowling centers as there used to be.

I intend to document as many bowling centers as possible. I'd also like to start a new hobby for bowlers - and even people who think of themselves only as tourists - to want to bowl in as many centers as they can, to "collect" each center as part of their travels.

Here are my goals for this travel blog:

1. Bowl at least three games in every bowling center in the United States and Canada.
2. Provide at the very least a photo essay of each bowling center.

3. Interview bowling center owners about their business.

4. Review the food at each bowling center. My meals of choice are hamburgers and salads!

5. Review one or more accommodations in each city I visit.

6. Write detailed travel entries on the cities I visit - what else to see and do besides getting in those three games of bowling.

7. Provide a detailed history of the sport of bowling.

8. Share videos of classic bowlers such as Earl Anthony, Mark Roth, and Bo Burton Jr., as well as Marion Ladewig, Lynda Barnes, Kelly Kulick and more.

9. Ignite a passion for bowling - and travel - in my readers.
